Thoughts On Meditation

A few years ago a good friend encouraged me to meditate daily. Truth be told, I didn’t really know where to start. We decided to try an online meditation led by Oprah Winfrey and Deepak Chopra. At 6am, every morning, for 21 days, we called each other and listened to Oprah and Deepak’s message followed by a 10 minute meditation. While 10 minutes doesn’t seem like a long time, it can feel like an eternity when you are trying to clear your mind.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve found that meditation followed by yoga in the morning helps to calm my mind and prepare me for the day. Sometimes, meditating in the evening helps me sleep at night. It’s been enormously helpful to have a practice, a habit that I can fall into to restore some normalcy during these strange times.

To say that we are living in unprecedented times is an understatement. Every day, we are inundated with disconcerting news, and I admit that I find myself drawn to it more often than not. Despite this, I try to focus on the truly good things happening around the world, and in our own communities. Our medical professionals working tirelessly to treat the sick and prepare for others, the scientists working to develop a vaccine and therapeutics, the families who are staying in touch more than ever, the friends and neighbors who check on each other.

Our team at Moore Wealth is working remotely to do our small part in slowing the spread of COVID-19. Many of you have seen a small portion of our homes in the background during your GoToMeeting appointments. Regardless of our physical location, we remain engaged in the practice of managing your financial plans and portfolios utilizing the strategies we have discussed with you over the years.

I hope that you and your families are well, and are finding ways to build new habits as we all adjust to a new normal. As always, please do not hesitate to call us with any questions or concerns, or if you would like to discuss any part of this newsletter.
