The Moore Wealth Team
Shabri G. Moore, CFP®
President
shabri@moorewealthinc.com
When Shabri announced that she wanted to change careers from molecular biology to financial planning, no one doubted that she would succeed. While these two occupations seem wholly unrelated, her work in the sciences complemented her entrepreneurial skills in building Moore Wealth Inc.
In the sciences, you need to be disciplined, detail oriented, and thorough in addition to being good at problem solving. Shabri excels in all these areas. After all, she holds a BS in biology from Marshall University, an MS in molecular biology from North Carolina State, and invested 15 years in windowless labs, working on cutting edge fermentation and chemotherapy protocols and experimenting with recombinant DNA technology. So why then, would Shabri trade the exciting world of cellular behavior for counseling human behavior?
The answer is people. Shabri knew she could make an immediate difference in people’s lives through financial planning. In the labs, results of her work may take a lifetime to bear fruit. Helping people map out a strategy to attain their goals whether it is a company startup, a legacy, or a secure retirement yielded a more here-and-now contribution.
Shabri has spent countless hours volunteering and encouraging Frederick’s growth. Currently, she serves as a board member to the Frederick Innovative Technology Center, the Frederick Memorial Hospital Good Samaritan Special Gifts Committee, and the Women’s Business Network of Frederick (WBN) , a non-profit helping women to network, define, and sharpen their entreprenuerial skill sets. She founded the WBN in the late 90's. Moore Wealth has been an active member of the Frederick Chamber of Commerce since 2003. Shabri served on Chamber committees and participated in its events, and at present sits on the board.
She was also a member of Pro-Net, Workforce Development, BNI, and the Commission for Women. For three years, Shabri was a SCORE consultant, advising budding entrepreneurs on how to launch their businesses. She has had guest appearances on radio and t.v., including CNN.
The one thing that Shabri recognized early was that the key to personal and community success lies in education. To that end, Shabri has taught courses at Frederick Community College on business and personal finance, has volunteered to be a guest speaker at women’s organizations, the Frederick County Dental Association, and the Frederick County Public Schools. She has been a regular contributor to the Frederick News-Post financial pages for the last five years as well as the InDus Journal. For several years now, she has hosted an economic symposium, which gives residents an up close look at economic trends. In 2009, Shabri opened up a free financial clinic to individuals recently released from their jobs. The purpose is to offer a “no strings attached” consultation to help the unemployed to preserve as much savings and retirement investments as possible.
Her work towards charitable giving is highlighted in her service to the Rotary Club of Frederick; to the Women’s Giving Circle (a group dedicated to strategic philanthropy) as a guiding member, and to Heartly House.
There is more to Shabri’s life than science, wealth management, and volunteering. She loves world travelling, extreme skiing, and reading. She enjoys music and theater, exercising and all kinds of sports. Her interest in food and wine rivals her knowledge of technology.
Shabri lives in Frederick with her two sons, Sean and Erik. Shabri holds her Series 6, 7, 51, 65, and 66 registrations through Commonwealth Financial Network.
Jane F. Helm
Senior Paraplanner
jane@moorewealthinc.com
In this crazy world, where individuals spend 75% of their lives in overdrive, Jane Helm brings order to chaos. She is the relationship builder, the liaison, the par excellence organizer, and the anchor in Moore Wealth's office support.
With a decade of financial industry experience, Jane provides Moore Wealth's clients with guidance regarding their accounts, statements or financial plans. Her goal is to assist Shabri Moore in educating clients in the varied aspects of their planning. One of her greatest assets is her ability to address client concerns and questions in a professional, expedient and friendly manner.
Jane is a Salisbury University graduate with a BASW degree (yes, her degree is in social work and that's what makes her great in this position!) and has earned both the Series 6 securities registration (held through Commonwealth Financial Network) and life/health license.
She is the co-founder of The Frederick Business Enhancement Group, a member of the Women's Business Network of Frederick, and is a Notary Public in Frederick County, MD. She also serves as member of the Emmitsburg Professional Business Association and on the Budget and Finance committee of Elder Services (ESPC).
Jane likes decorating, gardening, working out and travelling. She lives with her husband Mike and two daughters, Emma and Megan, in Emmitsburg, MD.
Cori Fedyna
Marketing Director
cori@moorewealthinc.com
Cori is the most important person on the Moore
Wealth staff. She is the one you need to schmooze
in order to get appointments or face time with
Shabri or Jane.
Her primary function is to find ways to tell people that not all financial planners are created equal, and that if you deserve the best financial advice around, then you absolutely need to check out Moore Wealth.
Cori hails from the New York City area, but feels like a Frederick native. (Who wouldn’t after living here half a life time?) She holds an AB in English from Cornell University and an MA in journalism from Penn State. Can you guess what she likes to do?
She has worked for McCall’s and Deloitte & Touche as a writer and stayed up all night producing print advertising for the now defunct Pan Am airline. In the 80’s she taught several writing courses at Frederick Community College, sold advertising space for the Frederick News-Post; and wrote radio copy for Key 103.1. In the late 90’s she found her niche marketing financial services.
She is a member of the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce, the Braddock Heights Community Association, the Braddock Heights Historical Society, the Penn State Alumni Chapter, and a Tri-Delt alumna.
Cori reads and writes, and as of late spends at least 20 minutes a day with Denise Austin. She lives in Braddock Heights. She and her husband, Bill, have three children, Matthew, Adrienne, and James, two lovebirds, a white standard Goldendoodle, and a hermit crab ---the sole survivor of her daughter’s science fair project 15 years ago.
Honestly, you can call Cori. She doesn’t bite. And she just may let you speak to Shabri.
